Around 30 humanoid and four-legged robots have staged one of the strangest protests you’re likely to see this week — marching outside Poland’s Ministry of Digital Affairs in Warsaw demanding tougher rules on AI and automation.
The machines carried placards, waved flags and “chanted” slogans warning that rapidly advancing AI could put human jobs at risk.
No, the robots haven’t suddenly developed class consciousness.
The demonstration was organised by Democratism, a campaign group trying to spark a wider debate about what automation could mean for employment. The deliberately bizarre stunt used the very technology people fear could replace workers to demand protection for those workers.
The robots marched in circles outside the ministry while carrying messages calling for AI regulation and protection for human jobs.
We’re officially at the stage where robots are protesting against robots.
