Keir Starmer’s former constituency is becoming a political battleground.
Green leader Zack Polanski was confirmed on Friday as his party’s candidate for Holborn and St Pancras. The by-election takes place on 8 October.
Labour has selected local council leader Sagal Abdi-Wali. The Greens took over 10% there in 2024, while an independent campaigning against the Gaza war secured nearly 19%.
Polanski says the Greens can win.
Taking a former prime minister’s seat would be quite the political calling card. Labour now has a very public defence to organise.
